Philosophy - Stepping Stones
Here at Stepping Stones Learning Environment our philosophy is to offer that home away from home environment in where the whanau is acknowledged. Where whanau are given time to build relationships with all kaiako to enhance that true sense of belonging when they walk through our door.
We believe in allowing all tamariki to reach their own potential with an inclusive practice of Whanaungatanga. Establishing trusting and respectful relationships with each tamaiti.
Supporting our tamariki to take each step in a nurturing, loving and safe environment allowing them time and patience to reach their own personal milestones. Acknowledging tamariki as Taonga with whanau foundations that will be recognised through positive relationships with whanau and the community.
We acknowledge the uniqueness of the mixed aged centre and establishing the foundations of Tuakana/Teina to naturally occur daily. Older tamariki learning compassion, respect, kindness, patience and guidance for our pepi/babies. This is then reciprocated with the natural course of life and our pepi guide and support our next generation. Tuakana/Teina is evident in our everyday practice within our centre.
We provide an inclusive environment for all tamariki, allowing our tamariki to be inspired, challenged and acknowledged while providing interactive and educational fun activities. We provide both free exploration and structured learning times throughout our day. Thus supporting the transition process which best links to school expectations.
As kaiako we strive to work alongside our tamariki, guiding their individual learning and development focuses. Nurturing their interests and experiences through play and extending their knowledge through exploration and provocation. Kaiako to support the tamaiti inner curiosity in which they gain a higher understanding and sense of knowledge of the world around them.
